Lighting Leader
Tianjin Grand Theatre

The Tianjin Grand Theatre is the centerpiece of the Tianjin Cultural Center. HUAYI designed the lighting for this multifunctional and publicly accessible building based on five key concepts:

Utilizing the large roof structure to provide lighting for the outdoor platform and grand staircase.

Implementing an integrated lighting approach to highlight the overall architectural image, especially the roof design.

Creating a festive lighting effect to match the importance of the building.

Avoiding unnecessary light poles on the outdoor platform.

Emphasizing the transparency of the glass curtain wall at night.

Additionally, HUAYI applied advanced lighting technology at the time, using new illumination calculation software and conducting multiple simulations and calculations to ensure that the theater’s lighting not only met contemporary standards but also offered flexibility for future adaptations.

In 2012, HUAYI completed the lighting project for the Tianjin Grand Theatre, bringing illumination to its gallery, concert hall, stage, and exterior areas, infusing the space with a vibrant lighting atmosphere.

Smoothly Sophisticated

The general lighting for the theatre is extremely complex, having to take into account lighting flexibility at such a large scale, as well as the prevention of any glossy aesthetics and shadows. In order to accomplish these things, translucent tubes were used alongside innovation and construction.

Elegant Illumination

These lights were designed specifically to illuminate and draw attention to the organ. In order to obtain this effect, each light's beam angle had to be individually configured, while the inner surfaces of the fixture all had to be painted matt black in order to prevent any unwanted light diffusion.
